By now most of us have dragged ourselves back into office after a short but exciting festive season. While some of us are adjusting to hybrid working models, others are finding themselves back in office full time. All of us are, however, trying to consume as much coffee as the heat will allow, to stay focused. But hot coffee is not your only option, Summer coffee drinks are on the menu and we are here to serve it to you!
Iced Coffee Mojito
With or without alcohol, a mojito is always a hit on warm sunny days, or mornings if you like. For this recipe you can either go really simple or over-the-top – it really is all up to you.
Ingredients:
- Cold brew coffee (preferably with hints of chocolate) or an espresso cooled down
- Honey/golden syrup
- Fresh mint leaves
- Heavy cream
- Ice
Directions: Coat glass with honey/golden syrup, add the coffee, ice and mint leaves. Stir before adding generous dollops of cream.
Espresso Iced Pops
This should be labelled as both a Summer coffee dessert, it is sweet, cold and refreshing all at once! You can adjust the sweetness by decreasing the portions accordingly.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups of cold coffee
- ¼ cup sweetened condensed milk
- 6-8 tablespoons dark chocolate chips
- Popsicle sticks
- Popsicle mold
Directions: Mix the coffee and condensed milk together. Place the chocolate chips at the bottom of the mould and pour in the coffee mixture. For a boozy option add a shot of Kahlua. This should set in the freezer for 5-6 hours or overnight.
Summer Coffee Float
Coffee and ice cream is not exactly a life hack, but it is the perfect pick-me-up for that 3pm lull most of us experience while working. It can be as simple or decadent as you like and you can add as many extras as you like.
Ingredients:
- 2 Cups espresso
- 2-3 Scoops of vanilla ice cream (or any flavour you prefer)
Directions: Add ice cream to a glass and pour coffee on top of it. Feel free to experiment with toppings, syrup or Kahlua for a boozy summer coffee variation.
Iced Coffee
Coffee lovers in Summer cannot resist a good old iced coffee. If you haven’t tried it before, this is your sign to fix one up today! This particular recipe calls for coffee iced blocks but you can simply add ice blocks to your black coffee mixture.
Ingredients:
- Coffee
- ice tray moulds
- Milk
- Whipped cream to garnish
Directions: Pour coffee (with or without sugar) into ice tray moulds and wait for it to freeze. Once it is ready, simply place coffee iced blocks into a glass, add milk (and sugar if you prefer sweet coffee) and cream to garnish. For something different, add some coconut milk and/or shavings.
Coffee Tonic
This drink is ideal for coffee drinkers who dislike sweet flavours. It is extremely easy to make and the flavours are easy to play around with.
Ingredients:
- 1 Cup of espresso (preferably a coffee with fruity notes)
- Indian Tonic
- Slices of lemon/lime
- Ice blocks
Directions: Mix together the coffee and indian tonic, top with ice blocks and lemon slices for a zesty flavour.
